UCF Health is celebrating one year serving the Lake Nona community.

This area has seen rapid growth over the past few years and is home to the UCF College of Medicine.  UCF Health was among the first primary care providers in the area, filling a much needed role in the growing community.

“We are proud to call Medical City our home,” Dr. Maria Cannarozzi, medical director of UCF Health, said. “It helps fulfill our vision of our medical school integrating with and serving our community.”

The physicians at UCF Health also teach at the medical school, allowing them to care for patients while educating future doctors about best practices in their respective fields.

To celebrate the anniversary, UCF Health is hosting three health talk events aimed at introducing local residents to the physicians at the Lake Nona office, and giving tips and advice in their respective areas of expertise. Dr. Christopher Smith, a family medicine and integrative medicine specialist, will host a health talk focused on food as medicine. Specifically Dr. Smith will discuss how eating foods that fight inflammation can lower risk of chronic diseases, including cancer. Dr. Le-Chu Su, a gastroenterologist, will speak regarding how a healthy digestive system affects your entire wellbeing. Dr. David Weinstein, a dermatologist, will educate about skin care and how to keep skin beautiful at any age. The talks are in the evening and are open to the public at no cost. For exact dates and times, see the calendar of events at www.weareonelakenona.com where you can RSVP online. Space is limited.

If you can’t make the events, you can still get to know some of the physicians at the Lake Nona office by watching “One Minute With” videos featuring Drs. Smith, Su and rheumatologist Dr. Shazia Beg.

Also celebrating one year of healthcare services in Lake Nona is Florida Hospital. Florida Hospital shares the Gateway building in Lake Nona with UCF Health. The two groups have joined together to offer various screening events and informational sessions throughout April that are free and open to the public. To see a complete list of events, visit www.weareonelakenona.com and RSVP using the online form.

UCF Health offers primary care and specialty care services from two office locations; one in East Orlando on University Boulevard near the UCF main campus, and the other in Lake Nona at the intersection of Narcoossee Road and Tavistock Lakes Boulevard.
