UCF Health’s growing dermatology services include new laser treatment with the Cutera excel V. This laser technology offers a fast and advanced method to rid your skin of imperfections. People seeking healthier looking skin often face untenable options of invasive medical procedures associated with undesirable side effects or costly cosmetic creams and makeup that only temporarily mask the underlying condition. With laser treatment, these skin concerns are efficiently treated with little to no pain, and very little down time. And the best part is you can see results in as little as one treatment.
Benefits of Skin Laser Treatment
These amazing results come from a high-power green and infrared laser. This treatment is well-suited for acne scars, broken capillaries, spider veins, freckles and skin discoloration. The laser light is absorbed by abnormal blood vessels in the skin, which heats and eliminates the vessels, ultimately improving skin tone and color. By incorporating the latest in cooling technology, higher doses can be delivered directly to the affected area with less pain than a traditional laser system. This technology is effective in treating a wide range of skin conditions, including rosacea, facial and leg veins, port wine stains, cherry angiomas and telangiectasia.
While non-laser treatment options exist for these skin conditions, such options are associated with significant limitations. For example, spider leg veins are most commonly treated by sclerotherapy, an invasive procedure that requires patients to wear compression stockings after treatment and includes an injection.
“When patients see the results of the laser, they often say they wish they had known about it sooner,” said Dr. David Weinstein, dermatologist at UCF Health, the College of Medicine physician practice.
