Biography

Dr. Pierce Trumbo is a board-certified general internist with interests in medical education, public health, and quality improvement efforts.

Education

Dr. Trumbo graduated cum laude from Davidson College with a major in English. He graduated from Vanderbilt University School of Medicine in 2017, completed his internal medicine residency at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in 2020, and served as a Chief Medicine Resident in 2020-2021.

Background

Before joining UCF, Dr. Trumbo worked as a hospitalist first at Ascension St. Thomas Rutherford, a community hospital in Murfreesboro, TN, and then at Duke University and Regional Hospitals in Durham, NC. During his time at Vanderbilt for medical school and residency, Dr. Trumbo participated in various QI and research projects and held leadership positions at Shade Tree Clinic, Vanderbilt’s free clinic for uninsured patients. Prior to medical school, he worked in immunization for the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO/WHO), and he has since consulted with PAHO/WHO and the Sabin Vaccine Institute. Dr. Trumbo is a member of the American College of Physicians, Alpha Omega Alpha medical honors society, and the Gold Humanism Honors Society.
