Biography
Dr. Michael Deichen is a board-certified Family Medicine physician and primary care doctor at UCF Health. He serves as Associate Dean for Clinical Affairs at the UCF College of Medicine and as Chief Public Health Officer for the University of Central Florida, where he leads university-wide health initiatives and emergency response efforts.
Dr. Deichen provides comprehensive primary care for adults, including preventive care, routine checkups, and management of acute and chronic conditions. While he has long been serving the university community through Student Health Services, Dr. Deichen now also provides care to the broader Central Florida community and is accepting new patients at UCF Health.
With more than 20 years of experience in family medicine and public health, Dr. Deichen has expertise in population health, infectious disease response, and emergency preparedness. He played a key leadership role in the university’s public health response during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Education
Dr. Deichen earned his Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from the University of Florida. He received his Doctor of Medicine and Master of Public Health from the University of South Florida and completed his residency in Family Medicine at the University of Florida.
Background
In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Deichen is a Professor of Family Medicine with extensive experience in medical education, healthcare leadership, and public health strategy. He has dedicated much of his career to advancing student health and leading clinical operations within an academic health system.
