- OUR EYE SURGEON -
I had cataract surgery on both eyes and found Dr. Patel, and his staff, to be great to work with. He is very thorough and takes the time to explain your options and the procedures. He makes sure that you fully understand what the problem is, and how it can be solved. Dr. Patel took time to answer all my questions, and is great with follow-up care. I would highly recommend him!

General Eye Exams
You will receive a comprehensive examination of the eyes, which includes a vision check and an array of tests for the overall health of the eye. Many of the tests performed in a general exam are also performed when you are inspected for specialized problems, such as cataracts or glaucoma.
Glaucoma is a disease of the optic nerve, which is the part of the eye that carries the images we see to the brain. When damage to the optic nerve occurs, blind spots develop. If the entire nerve is destroyed, blindness occurs. Early detection and treatment are the keys to preventing optic nerve damage and blindness. Glaucoma can be treated with eye drops, laser surgery or surgery done in the hospital. Because glaucoma can progress without your knowledge, regular eye exams are very important..
A cataract is a clouding of the normally clear lens of the eye. The amount and pattern of the cloudiness within the lens may vary. Common symptoms of a cataract include a painless blurring of vision, poor night vision, and needing brighter light to read. Causes of cataracts include age, injury to the eye, medications (especially steroids), family history, unprotected exposure to sunlight, and previous eye surgery. Surgery is the only way a cataract can be removed. Cataract surgery is a stitchless, painless procedure done with virtually no downtime.
