Meirelys Castro, M.D.
Dr. Meirelys Castro is board certified in family medicine. She provides comprehensive medical care with an emphasis on disease prevention, health maintenance, and healthy lifestyle modifications. She models patient-centered care when providing medical checkups, including women’s health, and treating a wide variety of health problems.
Dr. Castro earned her M.D. from the University of Florida, where she was named to the Gold Humanism Honor Society for her excellence in clinical care, leadership, compassion and dedication to service. She also completed her residency training at the University of Florida.
Dr. Castro practiced at UF Health Shands Medical Group in Gainesville, Fla. and for the Orlando VA Medical Center before joining UCF Health. She loves to teach, both in the classroom and in the clinic. She has utilized her bilingual skills to prepare medical students for mission trips to Latin American countries and to serve the hispanic population. She also has served as an adjunct professor to family medicine residents and as a medical student preceptor, helping to train the next generation of doctors.
When she is not in the clinic, Dr. Castro likes to keep an active lifestyle. She enjoys learning martial arts and practicing CrossFit. She takes every opportunity to get outdoors, whether hiking, biking or just playing with her kids. She is always on the search for healthier, science-based lifestyle choices to share with her family and patients.
