UCF Pegasus Health, the College of Medicine’s physician practice has announced its faculty physician leadership team that will guide operations and patient care at the year-old facility.   Maria Cannarozzi, M.D., has been named Medical Director; Leonardo Oliveira, M.D., Director of Quality and Safety; and Abdo Asmar, M.D., is serving as Director of Medical Staff.

Dr. Cannarozzi, board certified in Internal Medicine and Pediatrics, focuses her practice on women’s health. She has been named one of the “Best Doctors in Orlando and America” for the past two years. She received her M.D. degree at the University of South Florida following her work as a registered nurse and later as a therapeutic optometrist.

A sports medicine specialist, Dr. Leonardo Oliveira received his fellowship training at the Cleveland Clinic and is an expert in running injuries and concussions. This fall, he served as team physician for the varsity football squad at University High School in East Orange County.

Dr. Asmar is a nephrology specialist at UCF Pegasus Health and was recently elected to the Board of Directors of the National Kidney Foundation of Florida. He cares for patients with kidney disease, high blood pressure, and kidney stones. He received his fellowship training at the University of Florida and was previously chief resident at Cook County Hospital in Chicago.
